Good news! Kylie Minogue is a surprise addition to New Music Friday via a collaboration with Zoot Woman. The pop diva features on “Still Feels Like The First Time,” a track the UK trio first teased way back in July, 2016. I was starting to wonder if the song would even appear on their new LP, but it adds a little sparkle to Absence (out today). Was it worth the wait? If you like multi-layered, sultry electronica that washes over you without assaulting your ears with obvious hooks and a traditional chorus, the answer is yes. If not, hang tight for her pop comeback.
Of course, Kylie has already worked with one third of Zoot Woman. Stuart Price, who is probably best known for Madonna’s legendary Confessions On A Dance Floor, worked on the pop icon’s 2010 LP, Aphrodite. She really should call him up for her new LP. After all, the 49-year-old is reconnecting with old collaborators as well as tapping fresh blood like Sigala in the hope of delivering “a great, big, classic Kylie pop record.” While we wait for that to happen, “Still Feels Like The First Time” is a very pleasing distraction.
